Week 11: Marketing with Twitter, LinkedIn, Social Influencers

I chose to go with Twitter as I am more familiar with it from my own personal account. I set up a fresh account for The Painting Dummy. With only a couple of posts for now, it is still like planting a flag for my venture. I like Twitters ability to use hyperlinks to share information as well as images, short text communications (tweets), and even sharing videos or animated gifs. This does up the complexity compared to Instagram, but I think the freedom to communicate with more variety of media in one place makes up for a slight learning curve.

I have never used Twitter for marketing, so this will be a first and look forward to seeing the results. Right now I will be looking to expand my brand awareness , as most of what I am planning on creating will be more tutorial like content for my blog, Instagram, Facebook, and even Youtube channels. Using a Twitter account to drive brand awareness and communicate with news and previewing upcoming content, like a shorter e-newsletter that “archives” itself.  As a marketing tool, I believe learning how to use it correctly will be a good goal.

I have not even thought about using Social Media Influencers yet. I understand they have a very big role in Social Media Marketing today, but am not sure they would fit with my current brand. I can understand collaborative projects with some of the already established artists in this genre. With the Influencer market still growing by leaps and bounds still, I may just not have come across the Influencers right for this field yet.

Week 1 - Blog Theme

I chose the Notable Coral theme to start with. The color scheme first caught my eye. The bright coral color against the black background stood out among the gallery of themes on offer. It also came with a clean simple design and I knew I was going to want to modify it a bit, so thought that would make an easier place to start from. Notable Coral, I noticed, was way more dynamic in adapting to platform sizes than some of the other themes. In this new era of smart phones and tablets that more and more people are using to view internet pages on, I thought that this would be a plus for any direction I would be going in with this blog. I think it would be better for more people on whatever device they prefer to have an enjoyable experience when interacting with this blog or any website. I like the options of customizing the themes that Blogger provides. For this Notable Coral theme, I changed the Title font and color, the font of the main body text, and how vivid the coral color is. I...

Week 13a: Online Advertising - Analysis of the Marketplace

I have to say, that most of the “sponsored” posts I see on Facebook almost all fade into the background of my scrolling. I can almost subconsciously ignore them as I scroll. They are all designed almost exactly alike, to the point they just fade into the background. Most use standard “photo stock” looking images with a tagline or a few sentences of copy to “grab” your interest. It may be based on what I have been looking for recently? Maybe the search algorithms stored for my sign on that keep showing me the simplistic boring “adds” over and over again? In any case almost all of the “sponsored” posts I click on lead me to a “Sales Funnel”, where the call to action is sign up for an e-mail list or download a free sample of information with the opportunity to buy a book or cheep chotskies from China (with a month or so shipping time). I can say for me, most of these adds are annoying, so looking for them as examples was a bit of a chore. At the least, it gives me ideas on what not t...
